In my opinion, the internet is in danger of become a glorified article spinner depository, meaning when everyone can create articles with a touch of a button, everyone will do it, and the ‘truth’ and quality will suffer.

So how do you write an article with ChatGPT that doesn’t READ like an AI generated article? Using the right approach and prompts will help.

Come up with Unique Content Ideas.

You can use ChatGPT to analyze competitors’ top articles and brainstorm new ideas. Search Google or Bing for subject and find 5 good articles.

Then Use a prompt like this:

“I want to write a blog article about EXAMPLE. Here are five examples of successful blogs from my competitors:
Article Title 1 + link
Article Title 2 + link
Article Title 3 + link
Article Title 4 + link
Article Title 5 + link

Please read and summarize the 5 articles. Please brainstorm 10 article ideas for my blog.”

How to Use ChatGPT for Article Writing.

Once you have come up with an idea, you can start the writing of the article. I suggest the following step by step approach:

  1. Generate Article Outlines.
    • ChatGPT can suggest subtopics or sections for articles based on given ideas.
    • Provide detailed prompts for better output, including the article’s direction, audience, and keywords.
    • Review and refine the generated outline as needed.
    • Prompt Example:
Generate an outline for an article on ‘How to Grow Clematis Plants on Walls’. The article is directed at hobbyists and plant enthusiasts looking to grow this plant on outside walls. It should contain practical tips.”
  2. Write Headlines and Meta Descriptions
    • Use ChatGPT to create attention-grabbing headlines and informative meta descriptions.
    • Define your main topic or keyword and ask for multiple headline options.
    • Select and refine the best suggestions to fit your content needs.
  3. Summarize Blog Posts and URLs
    • ChatGPT can summarize text from blog posts, research papers, and books.
    • The free version has a character limit, while GPT-4 Turbo can handle larger texts.
    • Paid versions can access and summarize external webpages using Bing search.
  4. Write Introductions and Conclusions
    • Ask ChatGPT for suggestions on article introductions and conclusions.
    • Provide detailed information about the article’s content, angle, purpose, audience, and tone.
    • Refine the output by specifying structure and style preferences, such as the PAS approach.
  5. Do Keyword Research
    • ChatGPT can generate ideas and suggestions for keywords and topics.
    • Use specific prompts to get related keywords and long-tail variations.
    • Combine ChatGPT’s output with dedicated keyword research tools for better results.
    • Prompt Example:
    • ‘Please give me 10 related long tail keywords about KEYWORD EXAMPLE’

  6. Use Writing Prompts
    • ChatGPT can generate writing prompts in various forms to inspire creativity, such a ‘write as 18 year old’ or ‘write as a ‘Professional’.
    • Provide a general topic or theme to receive relevant prompts.
    • Use these prompts to brainstorm ideas or overcome writer’s block.
  7. Edit Your Content
    • ChatGPT can make a generated text content more concise, engaging, and error-free.
    • Use specific instructions to guide the editing process, for example for more detailed product specifications, longer content, change in tone.
    • For larger texts, break them into smaller parts.

ChatGPT Prompt for Writing a Good Introduction.

Introductions are crucial for engaging readers. Ask ChatGPT to help brainstorm different angles for your article introductions.

Example Prompt:

“I am writing an article about EXAMPLE. Help me brainstorm 3 different angles for the introduction. Make sure the introductions identify an issue and explain how this article is the solution.”

ChatGPT Prompts for Writing an article that Passes AI Plagiarism Detectors.

Plagiarism detectors use advanced algorithms to scan text for similarities against a vast database of web pages, academic papers, and other documents. They compare the text in question to existing content, highlighting matches and near matches to identify potential plagiarism.

The Best Tools are:

  1. Turnitin: Widely used in academic institutions for its comprehensive database.
  2. Grammarly: Offers a robust plagiarism checker as part of its writing tool suite.
  3. Copyscape: Popular among web content creators for checking duplicate content.
  4. Originality.ai: Provides deep search capabilities and detailed reports.
  5. ZeroGPT – Free online Plagiarism detector.

How to Avoid AI Content Detection.

I do the following to avoid plagiarism detection:

  1. Use Original Prompts: Use very unique, specific ChatGPT prompts to generate unique content.
  2. Paraphrase: You can use ChatGPT to reword a copied text in a new and creative way.
  3. Citations: Include proper citations for any direct quotes or specific information derived from other sources.
  4. Use Multiple Sources: Ask ChatGPT to combine information from two or three sources to create a more comprehensive and original piece.
  5. Editing: I always review and edit the content generated by ChatGPT. Add subjective opinions and observations.
  6. Write the Introduction yourself. By putting a personal stamp on the introduction, you can establish a personal tone and an unorthodox originality. Its also a good way to inject some shorter sentences.
  7. Burstiness and Perplexity: These are fancy words for writing more like a human. You can prompt ChatGPT to write with more burstiness, like a human.
  8. Style: Ask ChatGPT to write in a certain style, for example as a 18 year old, a pensioner, a graduate, a professional expert. You can even ask ChatGPT to write ‘more like a human’ and this will help with passing AI content detectors.
  9. Avoid Repetition. AI detectors use patterns to detect AI generated content. For example, avoid using the same word or phrase again and again.
  10. Rewrite with Tools. Rewrite the ChatGPT generated text with a tool like Quillbot. This often lowers the AI detection rate.

Best ChatGPT Prompts for Article Writing/Blogging.

Using the ideas above, these are the article writing I use. Getting ChatGPT to write a full blog post, can be a hard. Software tools that uses ChatGPT’s GPT framework, like Koala Writer, Cuppa, may include extra tools to help you get a complete blog post.

I find that with ChatGPT, your prompt must include all the details that the AI writing will need to come up with. Simply asking ChatGPT 4 to “write a blog post about EXAMPLE” is not be enough.

Using the ideas above, these are the article writing I use.

Prompt 1:

I will give you some information before asking you to write an article, do you understand?

Prompt 2:

When it comes to writing with AI, two factors are crucial, perplexity and burstiness. Perplexity measures the complexity of text and burstiness compares the variations of the sentences. Humans write with greater burstiness. For example, with a mix of shorter sentences alongside longer sentences. AI sentences are more uniform. Therefore, when writing the following article, I will ask you to create, I must have a good amount perplexity and burstiness. Do you understand?

Prompt 3:

Before writing the article please read these 5 articles on the subject to help you understand the subject: Link1, Link2, Link 3, Link 4, Link 5. After you have read and understood the articles, I will give you the subject to write about.

Prompt 4:

Using the concepts written previously, write an informative article with a high degree of perplexity and burstiness. Please write in a style of an [EXAMPLE] expert. Please write minimum 1000 words. Please let the title be [TITLE EXAMPLE]. The article must be optimized for for the keyword [KEYWORD]. This exact keyword should appear at least 3 times in the post. Please start the article with an introduction about the EXAMPLE subject, followed by these [4] subheadings in H2 tags: 1. SUBHEADING (+ instructions in paranthesis), 2. SUBHEADING (+ instructions in paranthesis), 3. SUBHEADING (+ instructions in paranthesis), 4. SUBHEADING (+ instructions in paranthesis). Please format the post as HTML. Please include a table of contents at the start of the post, after the introduction, linking to each item on the list, by using jump links. Please end the article by encouraging the reader to leave a comment. Please avoid the word ‘Conclusion’. Please do not specify what the article will include in the introduction.

Obviously, you will need to modify this prompt to suit your own needs, and as LLM engines evolve. It is just an example of what works for me. Prompts like this will get the AI detection score down to maybe 50%, on average. To get it down further, you need to edit the article. I also have good experiences with letting Quillbot rewrite the article to get a lower AI detection score. But Quillbot is a paid product.

Also, ChatGPT have a tendency to avoid writing longer articles, even with the ChatGPT Plus version.

You can usually get ChatGPT to write a longer article with one of the following prompts:

  1. Expand on the previous answer.
  2. Rewrite with more detail.
  3. Extend the length of the response significantly.
  4. Rewrite the above to increase the word count.
  5. Provide a longer explanation.

Thats it. For now. What is your favorite prompt? Please add it in the comment section.
